With real estate transactions more complicated than ever,
selecting a competent and skilled agent is essential in
today's home-selling market. By one estimate, the number of
mandatory property disclosures a seller must make has more
than doubled in the past 10 years.
In finding an expert listing
agent, home sellers should seek an agent who will stand up
for their interests and one who both enjoys the bargaining
process and has attended seminars and courses to sharpen his
or her bargaining skills. The sellers also should choose a
Realtor who is a good listener and can determine a
prospective buyer's motivations.
Moreover, the agent should
have good people skills and avoid pressuring either side to
make a deal before they are ready. Skilled real estate
practitioners also work well with colleagues in the field
and provide clients with detailed information about how they
utilize their professional network to market a home.
